From grounded military operations to fractured near-future battlefields, the ShooterofIO franchise has rapidly evolved into one of Mob Productions’ flagship gaming series.
Since launching in 2023, the franchise has expanded across multiple studios, gameplay experiences, and connected storylines while maintaining its focus on cinematic storytelling, large-scale multiplayer combat, and cooperative action.
Across three major releases (and a new fourth one coming in 2026), players have deployed across war-torn cities, covert blacksites, collapsing digital realities, and terrifying undead outbreaks. Each title introduced new gameplay systems, iconic operators, and evolving modes that helped shape the identity of the franchise.
ShooterofIO 1: Modern Ops (2023)
Released in 2023, ShooterofIO 1: Modern Ops marked the beginning of the franchise and introduced players to a grounded military conflict set during a modern global crisis.
Developed by SOI Studios, the title focused heavily on cinematic Campaign storytelling, fast-paced multiplayer combat, and tactical cooperative gameplay. Players fought across urban warzones, deserts, industrial facilities, and occupied territories while taking control of multiple special operations units throughout the Campaign.
Multiplayer introduced classic gameplay systems including customizable loadouts, streak rewards, large-scale objective modes, and close-quarters maps that quickly became fan favorites within the community.
The game established the foundation for the entire franchise and introduced several recurring factions, operators, and themes that would later evolve throughout future releases.
ShooterofIO: Dark Warfare (2024)
In 2024, Air Studios introduced a darker and more experimental direction for the franchise with ShooterofIO: Dark Warfare.
Set in the 1990s, the game shifted toward covert operations, psychological warfare, and advanced military experimentation. The Campaign followed elite operatives investigating classified programs tied to neural manipulation and biological weapons development.
Multiplayer expanded significantly with larger environments, reactive combat systems, dynamic weather effects, and advanced movement mechanics designed to create more aggressive engagements.
The game also introduced the franchise’s first Zombies experience, beginning a connected storyline involving dimensional fractures, experimental technology, and the mysterious Dark Aether.
Dark Warfare quickly became one of the franchise’s most ambitious entries and helped establish the darker identity that would continue into future releases.
ShooterofIO: Modern Ops 2 (2025)
Released in 2025, ShooterofIO: Modern Ops 2 expanded the franchise with a larger focus on cinematic warfare, fast-paced movement, and large-scale multiplayer combat.
The game featured a globe-spanning Campaign that followed multiple protagonists across large military operations, covert infiltrations, and high-risk missions set throughout collapsing international conflict zones. Missions combined traditional combat encounters with vehicle gameplay, stealth mechanics, traversal sequences, and large cinematic set pieces.
Multiplayer introduced rebuilt movement systems that allowed players to dive, slide, vault, and chain movements together fluidly during combat. The game also expanded Gunsmith customization with deeper weapon tuning, attachment statistics, firing range testing, and larger progression systems tied to operator customization and Prestige progression.
At launch, the game included several core multiplayer modes alongside the introduction of Conflict Zone, a massive 128-player battlefield experience focused on large-scale combat, vehicles, dynamic objectives, and evolving combat zones.
Modern Ops 2 also introduced Missions, a new cooperative mode featuring replayable operations, squad-based objectives, enemy strongholds, and evolving narrative events tied directly to the Campaign universe.
Battle Royale was later added on March 28, 2026, introducing large-scale survival gameplay featuring redeployment systems, shrinking combat zones, loot mechanics, and the return of the Gulag system.
ShooterofIO: Dark Warfare II (2026)
Launching worldwide on October 16, 2026, ShooterofIO: Dark Warfare II represents the next evolution of the franchise.
Set in the year 2048, the game shifts the series fully into a near-future setting shaped by autonomous warfare systems, cybernetic soldiers, neural-linked combat technology, and fractured global alliances.
The Campaign follows Dominic Graves and other returning operatives as they investigate the aftermath of the Helios crisis while confronting a growing threat tied to experimental cognitive warfare technology.
Multiplayer introduces new movement systems, large-scale dynamic combat environments, expanded Gunsmith customization, and evolving world events designed to reshape matches in real time.
Zombies continues the Dark Aether saga with the largest narrative experience in franchise history, introducing new dimensions, terrifying enemies, and interconnected stories tied directly to the collapse of reality itself.
With new gameplay systems, expanded co-operative experiences, and a darker near-future setting, Dark Warfare II marks a major turning point for the franchise.
What began in 2023 as a grounded military shooter has evolved into a connected universe spanning modern warfare, experimental technology, psychological horror, and massive global conflict.
The future of ShooterofIO begins this October.
